Editorial standards
They are published here because a publication that asks readers to trust its reporting should be willing to explain, in plain language, exactly how that reporting is produced.
Editorial independence
Indoneo’s editorial decisions are made independently of its commercial operations. Advertisers, sponsors, and commercial partners have no influence over story selection, framing, sourcing, or conclusions. No article is published in exchange for payment of any kind. Where affiliate relationships exist in travel or commerce-adjacent coverage, they are disclosed within the article.
Advertising on Indoneo runs through standard programmatic channels. Advertisers are not notified of stories before publication and have no visibility into editorial decisions.
How stories are selected
Every story published on Indoneo passes three tests.
Significance: does this development matter beyond its immediate news cycle? Does it affect trade, investment, policy, travel, or the lives of people with genuine exposure to Asia-Pacific?
Verifiability: can the core claims be supported by primary documents, official statements, or named institutional sources? Stories that cannot meet this threshold are not published.
Audience relevance: does this serve a Western reader — in North America, Europe, or Australasia — who needs accurate, contextualised intelligence about Asia-Pacific to make informed decisions?
Stories that do not pass all three are not published regardless of their timeliness or search value.
Sourcing standards
Primary sources are always preferred. Indoneo cites government statements, regulatory filings, parliamentary records, court decisions, central bank publications, academic research, NGO reports, and corporate filings directly. Wire service reporting is used as a starting point for further verification — not as a primary source.
Named attribution is standard. Every specific statistic, claim, or expert opinion cited in an Indoneo article carries an attributed source. “According to researchers” or “officials said” does not meet our standard. The institution, the document, and where available the individual are named.
External data is linked. Where a cited dataset or report is publicly accessible, Indoneo links directly to the source. Readers should be able to verify every major factual claim independently.
How Indoneo uses AI
Indoneo uses AI-assisted editorial tooling as infrastructure. It is the system that allows a publication of our scale to monitor primary sources across more than 75 countries, synthesise research across multiple documents, and produce coverage at the speed that a region moving this fast demands. It does not replace editorial judgment. It extends the reach of it.
Specifically, AI tooling is used for source monitoring and story identification, research synthesis across primary documents and datasets, initial draft structuring, and internal consistency checking before publication.
AI tooling is not used for making editorial judgments about story significance or framing, generating claims or statistics without primary source verification, or publishing without a verification step applied to specific factual claims.
Every article on Indoneo reflects a human editorial process applied to AI-assisted research and drafting. Accuracy responsibility rests with that process. All articles produced with AI assistance carry a disclosure.
Accuracy and updates
Before publication, every article is reviewed for factual accuracy of named figures, dates, statistics, and citations; attribution accuracy against the original statement or document; and internal consistency. Indoneo does not publish claims it cannot verify. Where a claim is based on preliminary or contested information, this is stated explicitly.
Indoneo updates articles when new verified information materially changes the picture. Updates are noted with a revised timestamp and, where the change is substantive, a brief note explaining what changed and when. Articles covering evolving situations are tagged accordingly and reviewed as confirmed information becomes available.
Corrections
When errors are identified — by readers, sources, or our own review — we correct them promptly, transparently, and without qualification.
